GENTAMICIN-POS Eye Drops are a sterile antibiotic solution containing Gentamicin, a powerful aminoglycoside. It is specifically formulated to treat external infections of the eye, such as "Pink Eye" (conjunctivitis) and inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis), by effectively stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria.
- Targeted Action: These drops provide immediate relief by delivering the antibiotic directly to the site of infection on the ocular surface.
- Contact Lens Safety: Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this medication. The preservative in the drops can be absorbed by soft lenses, and wearing lenses during an infection may delay healing or damage your cornea.
- Sterility Protocol: To keep the solution sterile, ensure the dropper tip does not touch your eye, eyelashes, or any other surface.
- Pro-Tip: If you are using other eye drops concurrently, wait at least 5–10 minutes between applying different products.
Key Ingredients:
- Active Ingredient: Gentamicin Sulfate 5.0mg/ml (equivalent to 3.0mg Gentamicin).
- Format: Sterile 5ml aqueous solution.
Indications:
- Bacterial Conjunctivitis: Relief from red, itchy eyes with yellow or green discharge.
- Blepharitis & Keratitis: Treatment of bacterial inflammation of the eyelids or cornea.
- Prophylaxis: Often used post-operatively or after an eye injury to prevent bacterial colonization.
How to Use (Administration):
- Dosage: Usually 1 drop into the affected eye(s) every 4 hours, or as directed by your doctor. In severe infections, your doctor may recommend more frequent applications.
- Method: Tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid, and squeeze one drop into the pocket. Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner (near the nose) for 1 minute to prevent the medicine from draining out.
- Duration: Complete the full course prescribed by your doctor to prevent the return of the infection or antibiotic resistance.
